This past Saturday, May 23rd, the Dragoneers Junior Team made their competitive debut at the Leesburg Dragon Boat Festival — and they delivered an outstanding performance!
Competing for the very first time, our young athletes raced in two 200m heats and one 400m race. We proudly entered two 10-person boats representing Wildwood High School and South Sumter High School.
The results were nothing short of impressive:
- South Sumter High School earned the Gold Medal
- Wildwood High School took home the Silver Medal
Both teams showed incredible heart, teamwork, and determination on the water. After the races, we celebrated with a memorable medal ceremony as the athletes proudly represented the Dragoneers.
This is just the beginning for our Junior Program! We couldn’t be more proud of these young athletes for stepping up, paddling strong, and making their first race one to remember.
A huge congratulations to all our junior paddlers, coaches, and families who supported them!
